Hallandale Beach, is named after Luther Halland, an employee of Henry Flagler’s Florida East Coast Railroad. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 41,217. Hallandale Beach is bordered by Hollywood to the north and Sunny Isles Beach to the south.
Hallandale Beach is renowned for Gulfstream Park, featuring horse racing and a casino, as well as the Mardi Gras Casino, formerly known for greyhound racing and home to the World Classic. The city also boasts a thriving financial district, hosting offices for several banks, brokerage firms and many restaurants. With many tourists eventually choosing to retire here, Hallandale Beach is among the fastest-growing communities in Broward County and the greater Miami metropolitan area.
