The town of Hillsboro Beach was named for the Earl of Hillsborough, who received large grants of land from the King of England while Florida was an English possession. The 3.2-mile strip along State Road A1A includes an exclusive stretch known as “Hillsboro Mile” or “Millionaires Mile”. The population was 1,987 at the 2020 census. It is located in northeastern Broward County, along the Atlantic Ocean and is bordered by Deerfield Beach to the North and Pompano Beach to the South.
The town of Hillsboro Beach feels quite remote with no commercial real estate or public facilities. It does have a town hall and a very diligent police force however. While both private and peaceful, the town of Hillsboro Beach has an excellent location. Restaurants and shopping are easily accessible in nearby Deerfield Beach and the larger cities of Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, with their international airports, are both within 30 miles.
